Built to Solve a Problem We Saw Every Day
As our affiliated dental offices continued to grow, we saw that many new dental assistants entered the workplace without enough practical preparation. They understood parts of the job, but often needed additional support to feel confident with patients, equipment, clinical workflows, and the pace of a busy dental office.
At the same time, becoming a dental assistant could feel unnecessarily difficult. The cost of training, limited scheduling options, and uncertainty about finding a job created barriers for people who were ready to work but needed a clearer path into the field.
Hoosier Dental Assisting School was created to provide that path. Our programs combine affordable tuition, convenient schedules, small classes, hands-on instruction, and direct exposure to real dental practices. Students do not simply learn about dental assisting—they prepare for the environment they may enter after graduation.
Training Designed Around the Dental Office
HDAS was build by people who work inside active dental practices. That connection influences how classes are taught, what students practice and how they prepare for the expectations of a real dental team.
Small Classes and Personal Guidance
Classes remain intentionally small so instructors can observe students closely, correct techniques, answer questions, and provide repeated one-on-one support. During hands-on instruction, HDAS maintains no more than eight students per instructor.
More Learning by Doing
Students do not spend the entire program listening to lectures. Instruction is combined with demonstrations, clinical practice, realistic patient scenarios, and repetition so students can become more comfortable performing the work.
Connected to Active Dental Practices
Training is supported by 14 affiliated dental offices that treat patients across a wide range of services. This gives students exposure to the pace, technology, teamwork, and responsibilities found in comprehensive dental practices.
A Clearer Path into the Workforce
HDAS helps coordinate externships, introduces qualified graduates to affiliated offices, and provides support during the transition from student to dental professional. Opportunities depend on successful completion, performance, professionalism, available positions, and office needs.

HDAS is directly connected to a network of active dental practices where teams care for real patients every day. That connection helps keep our training practical, current, and aligned with what dental offices expect from new assistants.
Students gain exposure to comprehensive dental environments that provide preventive, restorative, emergency, pediatric, cosmetic, surgical, and specialty services. They see how clinical teams communicate, prepare treatment rooms, support dentists, work with patients, and manage the pace of a busy practice.

Externship participation does not guarantee employment. Job introductions and offers depend on successful program completion, attendance, performance, professionalism, available positions, and individual office needs.
Training Informed by Daily Practice
Our curriculum is shaped with input from dentists, experienced dental assistants, EFDAs, and office leaders who understand the skills new team members need. Course content, demonstrations, and clinical exercises are built around situations students are likely to encounter in the workplace.
Exposure Beyond the Classroom
Dental Assisting students complete their externship through an affiliated office, giving them the opportunity to observe real workflows, apply what they have learned, and become more comfortable inside a professional dental setting.
Career Connections After Graduation
Qualified graduates may be introduced to available opportunities within the affiliated-office network. This can make the transition into the workforce more direct than beginning the job search without an existing connection to a dental practice.
Structured Training with Personal Support
HDAS combines clear classroom instruction with demonstrations, repeated clinical practice, and direct instructor feedback. Students are expected to work hard, stay engaged, and become more confident through experience.

Learn the Reason, Then Practice the Skill
Lessons begin with the concepts, terminology, safety standards, and steps behind each task. Instructors then demonstrate the technique before students practice it with guidance.
Small Groups Mean More Feedback
Hands-on instruction is maintained at no more than eight students per instructor. This allows instructors to observe technique closely, answer questions, identify areas for improvement, and provide individual support throughout the program.
Guidance from Experienced Dental Professionals
Instruction is provided by professionals with extensive dental experience, including dental assistants, EFDAs, and internationally trained dentists currently working in assisting roles. Practicing dentists also contribute through curriculum development, guest instruction, and clinical guidance.
Practice for a Real Working Environment
Classes are structured, comfortable, fast-paced, and demanding. Students work through realistic clinical situations and learn how to remain organized, communicate effectively, solve problems, and contribute to a dental team.
